Saturday 2nd September 2017  @ 1pm – 4pm Cherry Willingham Parish Council Community Picnic Cherry Fields.  Residents have been involved in creating the beginnings of Cherry’s first woodland and over this summer contractors have been constructing an access path down to the fields (and beyond them down to the Delph, which runs parallel to the Witham), as well as a bike path for children to play on and a woodland walk.  These paths have been made possible by a generous grant from the waste recycling company WREN and the picnic will also mark their official opening.

ready to play from 1pm official opening bit at 2pm. the event is billed as finishing at 3pm There will be various activities going on – e.g. time trials on bikes, craft activities for children, maybe den building. We have no idea how many people will come of course! Someone in the village is bringing a portable fairground type organ which will operate when the band doesn’t play.  It is possible there may be other short pieces of entertainment.

The Band would need to bring their own gazebo and chairs.  Set up can be from whenever the band wants!

The fields are south of Fiskerton Rd, near the end of Laburnum Drive. The area where the picnic is being held is approx. 600m walk down a path from the main Fiskerton Road.  One car with the gazebo, plus any other equipment and passengers, would be allowed down the track to park near the picnic site at the Growing Plot. There is no general parking on site so other Band members would need to park (carefully!) on local side roads.  The best place to park will be the Cherry Tree Pub car park on Laburnum Drive, which is 0.3mile away from the entrance to the field.  (It is best to avoid parking on the main road that runs from Wickes through Cherry to Fiskerton and beyond.)

  • There is one compostable toilet that will be available for use.
